St. John Fisher Catholic High School

A Performing Arts College

Learning together as a community in Christ

Dear Parents,

At St John Fisher Catholic High School we endeavour to offer the very best to all our pupils. As a Catholic school we seek to provide an education firmly based upon Gospel values. Our curriculum is designed specifically to cater for the individual needs and aspirations of every student. Our school offers an orderly, safe and happy community that respects and values all of its members.

Student achievement at external examination level has seen a regular and consistent improvement over recent years. At GCSE level the school produces results which are significantly above local and national averages. This is a great credit to the efforts of our students and their teachers.

The school is proud of its many strong traditions and particularly its emphasis upon the pastoral care of each individual child, its high standards of discipline, academic success and sporting achievements.

In September 2004 the Secretary of State for Education designated St. John FIsher as a Leading Edge School with a responsibility to promote and raise pupil attainment in collaboration with a number of partner schools. We are proud of this achievement which acknowledges our position as one of the most high performing schools in the country.

In September 2006 the school became a Performing Arts College. This specialist status has provided extra resources to promote Art, Music and Drama along with a wide range of enrichment activities. It has also enabled the school to play an active role at the heart of the community.

This prospectus will give you an insight into our community. I would also encourage you to attend our Open Evenings, talk to your Parish Priest, your child’s present Headteacher and parents of children already at the school.

If you would like to see the school on an ordinary working day please contact us to arrange a visit. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and we value your contribution to St. John Fisher’s continuing success.
